We've seen in it movies and tv shows..
The Devil tries to get the hero to sign on the dotted line.
The selling of the soul for something so dearly wanted.
He can make it happen.
All your wildest dreams will come true.
The hero will lose who they are and everything about them that is good will immediately slip away, but they will get that one thing that they so desperately desire.
All they have to do is sign on the dotted line....
That's how I feel about this election.
"Sign On The Dotted Line And Your Candidate Will Win!!!"
"Vote For Trump, Vote For The Devil! All The Pastors Are Doing It Because A Vote For the Republican Party Is Basically Like A Vote For Jesus!"
"Vote For Hillary Because You Dont Know What Else To Do!"
"You'll Lose Your Soul For Voting For A Horrific Person, But Your Party Will Win!"
(Also, I'm starting to feel very Un-Republican and don't actually want to associate with the Republican party anymore, but I felt that this title was more catchy.)
(Can we start a new party that is pro-life for all ages and not just unborn babies? Maybe a party that loves the refugees, the poor, and the unborn? I would like to be a part of that party, because these two parties are pissing me off.)
My vote for either is a vote against everything I believe in and have been raised to know is important.
- If I vote for Hillary, I am voting pro choice. I just can't do that. I am a strong believer in the lives of the unborn.
Also, she is a liar and involved in so much scandal from the past (and most likely present)
I am not going to vote for someone like her just to not vote for someone like him.
One more wrong doesn't make any of it right.
- If I vote for Trump, I am voting for a man who is a bigot, a sexist, and a liar.
A man who boasts in being able to grope women because he is a star...
(And let's all be honest. We are all wondering what else he has done to women and gotten away with because he is an extremely powerful man. Groping someone is probably the smallest offense. I see a Bill Cosby situation happening here.)
Sure, I could possibly help control who is appointed to the Supreme Court, but I would be voting for a detestable man, and I would therefor be telling my children that it was ok to do so.
I can see the conversation playing out like this in about 17 years.
Taylor as an 18 year old: "Mom. Who did you vote for in the 2016 election?"
Me (17 years from now, but still super hot): "Well, I voted for Trump, but let me explain why..."
Taylor: WHAT?! How could you do that?
Me: "Well, he promised he would put conservative people in the Supreme Court, and even though he had lied about all kinds of stuff in the past, and even though he assaulted women and said horrible things about other races, it was a chance to put someone in the Supreme Court that would vote pro-life."
Taylor: "Mom, if the pro life movement was so important to you, why didn't you just write in a different person for your vote and then get involved in a ministry that helped women choose life? Why did you vote for a man who clearly didn't value anyone's life but his own??"
Me: "Taylor! Go to your room!"
Mom: "I'm in college. I don't even live here anymore...."
It sounds silly, but I fear that I know way too many people who will be having this conversation with their kids in the future.
So this is my question: Why should we vote for either?
Why can't we write in anyone else, and make it clear that we don't support either of them?
Yes, this takes away the control we have been given to "choose" who is elected president, but we don't want either of them anyways.
Our control is already gone, so why sign on the line and sell our souls to the Devil?
(Disclaimer to everyone I know voting for Trump or Hilary: I don't actually think you're selling your soul to the Devil, but in the next lightening storm, I don't want to be standing anywhere near you ;) )
